NOTES ABOUT THIS WEBLESN

The CA standard used to design this lesson is quoted below.  Since we are dealing with fourth grade, care had to be taken to use appropriate words and to present concepts in an appropriate way.  The weblesn is kept light by the use of the talking answer wizard  and the use of kid friendly websites.  Perimiters and areas are presented using simple figures first and advancing to more complex figures such as the trapezoid. The last page of the lesson gives the derivation of the formula for the area of a trapezoid.  The algebra may be a little advanced for fourth grade but standard paragraph 1.4 below seems to want us to attempt it.  The little professor assures the student that if they are confused by the algebra that they will undersand it all later.

Standard

A quiz covering the standard is offered at the end of the lesson.
